Insulated Heater

Flexible PTC heating element

Including
  • Insulation wrapped type

An insulated PTC heater is a thin, flexible PTC ceramic element wrapped in an insulating film rather than sealed inside a rigid housing. That flexibility is the whole point: it lets the heater conform to curved, cylindrical or irregular surfaces where a rigid cased heater’s fixed geometry simply won’t sit flush.

As a PTC insulated heater manufacturer, PTCWORKS supplies the insulation wrapped type — a self-regulating heating strip built around the same PTC ceramic core used across our liquid, air, cased and chip product lines, laminated in a flexible insulating film for direct wrap-around mounting. Typical applications include pipe and tube heating wraps, flexible seat or cushion heating panels, wearable heating layers, and anti-freeze wraps for tubing exposed to cold ambient conditions.

Because the element self-limits at a stable temperature set by the ceramic’s Curie point, an insulated PTC heater doesn’t need an external thermostat to avoid overheating — even when wrapped tightly around a surface where heat dissipation varies point to point.

About Insulated Heaters

FAQ

Insulated heater questions.

What is an insulated PTC heater?+
It’s a flexible PTC heating strip — the same self-regulating ceramic used across our product lines, wrapped in an insulating film instead of a rigid housing so it can conform to curved or irregular surfaces.
How is it different from a cased heater?+
A cased heater is sealed inside a rigid housing (ceramic, plastic, aluminum or resin) and holds a fixed shape. An insulated heater is flexible and wraps around a surface — the right choice when the mounting surface isn’t flat.
Can it be cut or shaped to a custom length?+
Shape, length and width are customizable at the manufacturing stage. Send your target dimensions and mounting surface and we’ll confirm what’s achievable for your spec.
Does it need a thermostat to avoid overheating?+
No — like every PTC element we manufacture, the insulated heater self-limits at a stable temperature set by the ceramic’s Curie point during formulation, without needing an external control circuit.
Do you offer free samples?+
Yes — send your target dimensions, mounting surface and operating voltage to sales@ptcworks.com and we’ll follow up with sample availability.
